Rights Project for Teens Award Winners

1st place - $500
2nd place -$250
3rd place - $125

Sponsoring high school chapters, clubs or teachers will receive an award of $100 per school, if this is in accordance with their regulations and agreeable to their principal.

Winners will be announced, their names posted on the A.C.L.U. of Colorado website. www.aclu-co.org Only the winning entry will be posted in its entirety on the website.

The winners, two guests plus their sponsoring teacher and one guest will be invited to the ACLU's Annual Meeting in February 2006 for recognition by ACLU members.


Rights Project for Teens - Rules

High school students are invited to submit an original print media entry: editorial, investigative, political cartoon or strip series or a photo essay on civil liberties and the Bill of Rights.

Entries must be original.

  • Complete the entry form and attach to your entry. Print please. Entries without forms will not qualify.
  • Please submit in both hard copy and digitalized format (disk) if possible.
  • CLEARLY INDICATE NAME ON EACH SHEET AND NUMBER, 1 of/1, 1 of/2, etc.
  • If your entry is an editorial or investigative piece, it must be typed and double-spaced. **600 word maximum**
  • B/W Photos only, 5”x7”, with signed release form of subjects, attached to back of each. ** 5 related images maximum** Scanned onto a disk, if possible
  • B/W Cartoons / artwork only. **One drawing or one strip series of 5 boxes maximum. Drawing no larger than 8”x11”, strip series no more than 5 images as 5”x5” frames set on 8”x11” background sheets** Scanned onto disk, if possible.
  • One entry per person. Submit original and keep a copy. Entries will not be returned.
  • Relatives and family of ACLU staff and board of directors are not eligible.
