Free Speech

Echelon Watch Organization/Cyber-Rights & Cyber-Liberties

Echelon is perhaps the most powerful intelligence gathering organization in the world. Reports suggest that this network is being used to spy on private citizens everywhere, including on the Internet. This site is designed to promote free speech and privacy on the Internet and raise public awareness of these important issues

Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR)
FAIR is the national media watch group that offers well-documented criticism of media bias and censorship. We seek to invigorate the First Amendment by advocating for greater diversity in the press. We scrutinize media practices that marginalize public interest, minority and dissenting viewpoints.

Freedom Forum
The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan, international foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. The foundation pursues its priorities through conferences, educational activities, publishing, broadcasting, online services, fellowships, partnerships, training, research and other programs.

Justice on Campus Project
The Justice on Campus Project's mission is to preserve free expression and due process rights at universities. Our online archive includes reports on disciplinary charges, speech codes, and censorship on college campuses around the country. The Project was one of 20 plaintiffs in the ACLU's successful challenge of the Communications Decency Act.

National Coalition Against Censorship
The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC), founded in 1974, is an alliance of over 40 national non-profit organizations, including literary, artistic, religious, educational, professional, labor, and civil liberties groups. United by a conviction that freedom of thought, inquiry, and expression must be defended, we work to educate our own members and the public at large about the dangers of censorship and how to oppose it. NCAC strives to create a climate of opinion hospitable to First Amendment freedoms in the broader community.

People For The American Way
People For the American Way organizes and mobilizes Americans to fight for fairness, justice, civil rights and the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. PFAW lobbies for progressive legislation and helps to build communities of activists.

WorldVillage’s Page on Parental Control of the Internet
WorldVillage is very concerned with the proliferation of indecency available to minors who use the internet. We are also concerned with government attempts to regulate the internet, especially as they relate to the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. To this end, we believe that empowering and educating parents is the key to protecting our children on the internet.
