New Members' Orientation & Reception

Finally joined the ACLU? Welcome to the family. Wrap up your May Day by dropping by our office to meet the staff, board, and other members. We'll update new members on current legal and legislative efforts, including our work to defend the free speech and expression of protestors at this summer's Democratic National Convention. We'll also show you how to get involved, whether that's responding to our email Action Alerts or volunteering to help out with one of our summer festival booths. Northern Colorado Chapter Speakers' Bureau Training
When: Saturday, May 3, 1:00 - 5:00 pm

Hey Northern Colorado ACLU members, do you want to share your passion for civil liberties with others in your community? At this training you'll learn how to join the Speakers' Bureau so that you can be called upon to discuss civil rights and civil liberty issues with high school classes, Rotary clubs, church groups and any other local organization that might request a speaker from the ACLU. For those interested in working with younger kids, the last hour of the meeting is reserved for discussing our 5th Grade Bill of Rights program, which teaches elementary school students about the Constitution, Branches of Government and the Civil Rights movement.

Mike Farrell Book Tour

Mike Farrell will be appearing in Denverin support of his memoir, Just Call Me Mike: A Journey to Actor & Activist. Mike Farrell, world-renowned actor from the television shows M*A*S*H, Providence and Desperate Housewives, reflects on his path from fame to progressive activism. Mr. Farrell is co-chair emeritus of Human Rights Watch in Southern California; spokesperson for Concern America; co-founder of Artists United to Win Without War; and president of Death Penalty Focus.
