Fall Education Program to Address
Implications of School Voucher Case in Colorado

Does the Ohio School Voucher Program violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment by allowing public money to be used to finance education at private schools that provide religious education? The U.S. Supreme Court will answer this question with a June announcement of their decision in the case of Zelman, et al v. Simmons-Harris. (See the National ACLU Website for details, www.aclu.org.)

The Education Committee is planning a fall program to explore the implications of this decision for Colorado schools. All are welcome to attend. Continuing legal education (CLE) credit will be offered. Please watch the Summer All Rights Reserved or our local Website for more details (www.aclu-co.org).

Members Meet for ACLU Orientation

The 2002 Member Orientation, held the evening of April 10th at the ACLU offices in Denver, was well-attended, informative, and a friendly and social affair. With the expertise, once again, of our Education Committee, the libations and food were substantial and delicious. More than 40 members - new and old - attended and heard from all of our Committee chairs, staff members, and Board members. Opportunities were presented for members to "plug in" to various fundraising events, educational programming, our Legislative Committee, and other areas for volunteer participation with the ACLU of Colorado.
