Education Committee Report

Since the April All Rights Reserved, the ACLU of Colorado Education Committee has been extremely busy! In addition to the detailed planning for the September 26th Community Forum and CLE on School Vouchers, the U.S. Supreme Court and Colorado Policy Alternatives (see Page 8), the Committee and its many energetic volunteers organized and staffed the People's Fair ACLU booth in early June. We had many people stop by to ask questions about the ACLU, to debate our positions, and to congratulate the ACLU for "being there during these times."

The Education Committee also organized and staffed the PrideFest event of late June. With assistance from ACLU Board Vice-Chair Vince DeGarlais, a festive and memorable PrideFest Parade contingent was organized and equipped with 'protest'-styled placards - "We March for Equality" and "We March for Freedom of Speech" were some of the slogans. Thanks as well to Board member Jason Mundy for bringing a wonderful crowd of folks to join in the Parade. Our reception by the throngs lining Colfax Ave. in Denver was enthusiastic and heartening. Response to our ACLU materials at our booth in Civic Center Park was also well-received.

And finally, the Education Committee and its volunteers organized and staffed a booth at the Cross-Disability Fair held in late July in Civic Center Park.

Thank you to the Education Committee's great volunteers for their continuing support of ACLU of Colorado.
