ACLU of Colorado
Celebrates 50 Years

Whitehead Dinner and Auction are Smashing Successes!

On October 26th, ACLU members and supporters gathered at the Westin Tabor Center for the 47th Carle Whitehead Memorial Awards Dinner and 50th Anniversary Celebration. Coordinated again this year by Board member Norma-May Isakow and her extraordinary volunteer committee, the evening was a celebration of the past 50 years of ACLU in Colorado and an acknowledgment of the contributions of the many groups who have been instrumental to the success of our 50 years. These groups are our farsighted Founders; our many hardworking Volunteers; our accomplished Cooperating Attorneys; our Members and Financial Supporters; our dedicated staff; and, our raison d'être, our Client - the Bill of Rights. More than 325 guests joined us for the festive evening, and enjoying an excellent meal and bidding on silent auction items in "the Second Annual Best Silent Auction in the History of the Universe" organized by Board member Bill Morhman and his dedicated group of volunteers. ACLU Board member Lino Lipinsky was Master of Ceremonies, leading us through a visual presentation of our last 50 years. The swingin' music of Lannie Garrett and her Errand Boys of Rhythm Quintet finished off the evening in grand style.

Thank you to all of you who were in attendance and to the many generous donors, particularly our Diamond Sponsor, the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado who made the Dinner and Silent Auction a success! The ACLU of Colorado appreciates your unflagging support of our work. We now look forward to the pressing tasks of the next 50 years - which are at hand now!
