Dear Friends,

By the time you are reading this I shall have become the new Executive Director of the Colorado ACLU. I am very excited to be starting this new phase of my life with such a great organization. You have a wonderful staff and volunteers who work hard for you and who believe in the work of the ACLU. I look forward to working with them for many years to come.

Although you would not have known it if you relied on the media, the Colorado ACLU participated in the recent case in which Judge Meyer of the Denver District Court struck down the school voucher program passed during the last legislative session. The decision, based on the Colorado Constitution, held that the legislation impermissibly removed control of schools from local school boards. The decision did not reach the separation of church and state - the issue raised by our fabulous Legal Director, Mark Silverstein. However, that issue remains in the case and likely will be raised during the appeal process.
