Los agentes de ICE lo arrestaron en su vivienda el 17 de noviembre de 2017 y ICE lo mantuvo detenido, donde falleci\u00f3 15 d\u00edas despu\u00e9s. ICE todav\u00eda no ha entregado una explicaci\u00f3n detallada sobre lo que gener\u00f3 el fallecimiento del Sr. Samimi. Mientras tanto, varios informes y denuncias recientes han destacado las inquietudes acerca de la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica en la detenci\u00f3n de ICE.\n\n\u201cActualmente, han transcurrido diecis\u00e9is meses desde que falleci\u00f3 el Sr. Samimi, y ICE sigue sin contarle a la comunidad sobre esta tragedia,\u201d afirm\u00f3 el abogado de planta de ACLU de Colorado, Arash Jahanian. \u201cTodo lo que sabemos es que ICE detuvo a un hombre que hab\u00eda vivido en los Estados Unidos por m\u00e1s de cuatro d\u00e9cadas y 15 d\u00edas despu\u00e9s falleci\u00f3 bajo el cuidado de ICE. El p\u00fablico merece conocer m\u00e1s detalles y esta demanda busca esa informaci\u00f3n.\u201d\n\nACLU de Colorado present\u00f3 su primera solicitud de la <a href=\"https:\/\/acluco-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/2017-12-20-ICE-Jahanian-FOIA-records-request.pdf\">Ley por la Libertad de la Informaci\u00f3n (FOIA)<\/a> el 20 de diciembre de 2017. En respuesta, ICE escribi\u00f3 solamente cinco p\u00e1ginas, que no ten\u00edan ninguna relaci\u00f3n con el fallecimiento del Sr. Samimi. ACLU de Colorado apel\u00f3 y ICE respondi\u00f3 el 3 de julio de 2018, al declarar que su investigaci\u00f3n sobre el fallecimiento del Sr. Samimi hab\u00eda concluido y que se presentar\u00e1n m\u00e1s documentos.
