RJ is the current communications intern for ACLU of Colorado. They joined the communications department in July 2022. Before working with the ACLU, they studied at Colorado State University, where they received their bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in media studies in 2022. Throughout their education, they found deep passions for the visual arts, criminal justice activism, and LGBTQIA+ education.They plan to continue their higher education and become a professor who focuses on teaching about economic discrimination and combatting issues within the education and criminal justice systems.
In addition to seeking higher education, and now joining the ACLU team, they also run their own visual arts company that they started in 2019. Mello Artwork offers mural installations and graphic design services.
