The following are translations of some of the FBI abbreviations and acronyms that appear in the JTTF documents the ACLU of Colorado obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.

DTOU – Domestic Terrorism Operations Unit

RA – reporting agent (reporting area?)
SA – special agent
UNSUB – unknown subject
UNSUBS – unknown subjects
VC -- violent crimes
The first three digits of the FBI case ID number identify the category of crime or criminal activity to which the case pertains. The number 266 is used to identify cases classified as “domestic terrorism.”
