Bio

Michael H. Smith serves as Senior Program Officer at The Colorado Health Foundation (TCHF). In this role, Michael co-leads the Foundation’s Advocacy Priority and supports the Foundation’s Locally-focused Work. Prior to joining TCHF, Michael was a Program and Strategy Officer at the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation (RMHF) in Richmond, Va.

Before his move to Richmond, Michael led real estate development and urban planning work in the nonprofit, government and private sectors in Pittsburgh, PA. Michael served as Project Manager for TREK Development Group, managing the Bedford Dwellings/Hill District Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant. Prior to that role, Michael worked in the Pittsburgh Department of City Planning, managing the city’s affordable housing task force. Michael came to Pittsburgh after working for four years in Charlottesville, Va. as a neighborhood planner.

Michael completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. He is 2023-2024 Fellow in the On Being Social Healing Fellowship and alum of the Terrance Keenan Institute for Emerging Leaders in Health Philanthropy, serving as a fellow in 2020.
