Last Sunday's Denver Post featured a column by ACLU of Colorado Executive Director, Nathan Woodliff-Stanley, written in response to the recent focus on parole reform by the newspaper and legislators. In the column, Woodliff-Stanley asserts that "true reform begins on the front end of the criminal justice system, by avoiding the high number of inmates that now burden our prisons and parole system." Statement of ACLU of Colorado Director Nathan Woodliff-Stanley on the passing of Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Executive Director Dan Schoen
“All of us at the ACLU of Colorado send our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of our friend Dan Schoen.
“Dan’s passion and commitment to civil liberties and human rights will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the thousands of lives that he helped to improve through his tireless advocacy on behalf of the disadvantaged, the marginalized, and the disenfranchised. Dan’s life, though it ended entirely too soon, had an immeasurable impact and we are all grateful to have known and worked with him.”
