Women’s Rights

Today, gender bias continues to create huge barriers for many women. Ongoing struggles include ensuring equal economic opportunities, educational equity, and an end to gender-based discrimination.

Since 1972 the ACLU of Colorado has been working to systematically end sex discrimination and ensure that all women and girls are able to lead lives of dignity. We have fought for women’s rights across the state in cases related to the court orders of protection for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault liability, and the prohibition of gender discrimination in places of public accommodation.

Despite the tremendous progress made in the struggle for gender equality, women still face violence, discrimination, and institutional barriers to equal participation in society.
