ACLU of Colorado Staff Attorney Taylor Pendergrass sent a letter to Governor Ritter today, urging him to give serious consideration to the concerns we have raised about the Secure Communities Program. We also encourage him to consult those communities that would be the most impacted by the program, given its potential for abuse and violations of Coloradans' civil rights.

We take issue with the racial profiling and pretextual stops that the program would encourage, and find the likelihood of wrongful detention or over-detention through this program very concerning.
