This case is one of many challenging misconduct by Aurora police. The ACLU’s client, Dwight Crews, is a 60-year-old Black man. Aurora police removed him from his home, without a warrant, in the middle of the night. Crews was restrained, forced to the ground, and unlawfully arrested. He sustained multiple injuries. A judge dismissed the ‘resisting’ charge filed by Aurora officers.

Crews sued for unlawful arrest and excessive force. Aurora subsequently agreed to a monetary settlement for Mr. Crews.
