LGBTQ+ Equality is part of ACLU of Colorado's Privacy & Liberty Project.

Everyone in this country has the right to be included in the promises and protections of the Constitution, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.

ACLU of Colorado works for equal rights and legal protections against discrimination and harassment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender non-conforming people. We are committed to securing marriage equality for same-sex couples and have successfully defended the rights of LGBTQ+ parents, not only in custody and visitation arrangements but also by challenging discriminatory laws that restrict the rights of LGBTQ+ people to parent. We work to include gender identity in nondiscrimination laws and are also working to make public schools safe and bias-free for LGBTQ+ students. We argued a successful suit to defeat Colorado’s discriminatory Amendment 2 all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
