On November 6, 2023, we filed two amicus briefs together with the MacArther Justice Center and the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality, in two jury selection cases before the Colorado Supreme Court, People v. Johnson and People v. Austin.

While in the El Paso County Jail, Darlene was excluded from housing with other women inmates, denied women’s undergarments and grooming products, mocked with improper pronouns, and subjected to a strip search by an unsupervised male guard.

We argue that individuals must have a right to sue federal officers for using excessive force in violation of fundamental Fourth Amendment rights.

We argue that conducting warrantless long-term, continuous surveillance of a person’s home using cameras that are posted on utility poles nearby violates the Fourth Amendment.

We argue that racial bias has no place in our jury system and the Colorado Supreme Court must remand this case for a new trial after a judge refused to excuse for cause a potential juror who made openly racist statements during jury selection.

We argue that the government must prove bad intent before criminally prosecuting someone for online free speech.
